I was watching 'White Noise' the other day, and was thinking about death... naturally thats what the movie is about. It got me thinking of what I think happens when you die.. I came up with this theory that in the moment upon which you die there is a small instance where just before you drift off into oblivion your mind goes to a place where or what you think heaven is. At that point when you die that is where your mind or your spirit remains. This could be anything you think of, your own 'happy place'. In essence your mind creates the place where you want to be. For most this could be a place with your loved ones who have or haven't passed on. Its been recorded that most people that have near-death experiences often see a white light. But I think that is because thats what most people believe happens when you die.. You see a bright light and then are transported to a place in the clouds. So naturally thats what your mind comes to at that short instance between your life and your death.
It got me thinking to what I believe my heaven would be, even though it would be impossible to tell what I'd be thinking at that exact point before I die, I'd imagine a place of celestial beauty. A surreal place on a faraway planet in some corner of the universe where galaxys, nebulae and stars are so clear and crisp to the senses. I've often had dreams of such places and they always fill me with a sense of wonder and amazement. I could think of no such place I'd rather be when I do infact pass on. In my mind I'm sure i'd have other people there that I'd like to have. Artists, Musicians, and the like, to keep me going. It's like in that Russell Crowe movie "Gladiator" just before he dies he imagines himself in the midst of his wheatfarm with his family in the distance.. Its kinda like that.
It would be interesting to hear other peoples idea of eternal bliss..

These are some interesting thoughts you bring to the table.
Your theory is a good one, but I then put to you, what happened to the spirits who haunt (like those in white noise)? Did they go to their place of heaven without the intention of haunting others, but had no choice to do so due to the fact that there were living people there? Are there such things as angry spirits? If so, why are they angry, did they not go to their place of heaven?
At the risk of being a spoilsport, I don't believe in anything after death. If there is indeed any sort of soul or spirit in our bodies, I figure that energy is simply dissipated into whatever living things are around at the time.
